EMDR

What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly researched and effective therapy approach for reducing distress connected to painful memories and experiences. It is widely used to address both single-incident traumas and more complex, long-standing challenges.Instead of talking about a memory in detail, EMDR uses guided eye movements (or other forms of left–right stimulation, such as tapping or sounds) to help your brain process and “unstick” painful memories.

What EMDR Can Help With
When something overwhelming happens, your mind and body can hold onto the memory as if it’s still happening. This can cause triggers, anxiety, or unwanted thoughts. EMDR helps your brain reprocess those memories so they lose their emotional intensity and no longer control your reactions.
